Kim Kardashian is always honest and shares her life with millions upon millions of social media followers. She recently opened up Angie Martinez's 'IRL' podcast, speaking for the first time in-depth about how she has been affected by her ex-husband Kanye West's controversial statements and how she tries to protect their four children from the furore created by their father. Kim sure wears her heart on her sleeve, read on to find out some of her other major revelations...

Kim admitted that her ex-husband Kanye's outrageous outbursts, including worrying anti-Semitic statements, have caused damage to her image. She said: “I’ve felt a little bit of separation since I filed for divorce like two years ago, so I started to slowly feel that separation. But, you know, I think that that will always follow me.”

Kim is well aware that the image her children have of their father should not change, so she has tried to defend the rapper to them, despite his increasingly odd behavior. She said: “I definitely protected him. And I still will in the eyes of my kids - for my kids. So, in my home, my kids don’t know anything that goes on, on the outside world. I’ve managed to – I’m holding on by a thread – I know I’m so close to that not happening, but while it’s still that way, I will protect that to the end of the earth, as long as I can."

While Kim has weathered the criticism that she and her family have endured over the years, the same cannot be said for her ex's controversial statements. She said: “No matter what we are going through, I have to have that smile on my face and blast his music and sing along with my kids. [I can] act like nothing is wrong and as soon as I drop them off, I can have a good cry.”

Kim is very strict about the media content her children, North, Psalm, Chicago and Saint, consume. In fact, the TV star has been very careful about what her children can see and how they access it. She said: "My kids don’t know anything. So, at school, some of my best friends are the teachers, so I know what goes on at recess and lunchtime; I hear what is being talked about.”

Kim is very careful about the image her children have of their father and does not intend to change it despite the constant scandals. She said: “One day, my kids will thank me for sitting here and not bashing their dad when I could. They'll thank me and I'll privately answer anything that they want to know. It's not my place anymore to jump in."

Kim has tried to stay out of the controversies of other celebrities or brands, but she admits she also is criticised for staying silent. Referring to the recent Balenciaga furore over an advertising campaign that was deemed inappropriate for the child models and to children, she said: "It’s not my place anymore to really jump in. Sometimes, obviously I have to, but then sometimes, I’m like wait a minute. I posted something in support of the Jewish community. Or like even with the Balenciaga thing. Everyone was like, ‘Why aren’t you speaking out?’ And I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m not in this campaign, I don’t know what’s happening. Let me take a minute to research this.’ And then as soon as I saw what everyone was seeing on the internet and the reality of the situation, I completely spoke out and completely denounced it. But, because I didn’t say, ‘F*** you Balenciaga, that’s it’ — people got mad at that.”

Kim wants to get back into a relationship, however, she is not sure if any guy wants something serious with her, after Kanye West's harassment of Pete Davidson, her ex-boyfriend who she was with for nine months. She said: “It was just so new. I didn’t know what dating was for so long. I’d been in a relationship for almost 15 years, 12 years, something like that. I don’t know, there’s a part of me that’s like, ‘Oh, my God, is everyone going to be scared because I don’t have the easiest ex?’ I don’t think that’s fair to ever put someone in a situation. … But then there’s a side of me that’s like, ‘Wait, what? Why would I ever have to live that way?’”

After so many years with the father of her children, Kim finally feels free after ending her relationship. She said: I feel free of things. There’s moments — you’ll have your moment, but I’d say in this last year, this year for me, even though I got emotional before talking about Kanye, I feel free in the sense that I am not anybody else, I don’t hold anybody else’s thoughts, opinions, burdens, and I used to hold this guilt that I wasn’t there to fix situations, and I wasn’t there to put it all back together. … [Now] I’m free.”

Before studying for a career in law, the TV star was involved in a few predicaments when she made some visits to the White House, because she didn't understand anything that was being talked about there. She said: "I hated how I felt when I went into the White House for the first time and I didn’t know half of anything that they were saying - like all of the clemency talk, and all the attorney lingo and everything that they were talking about,' she said. 'I literally was sitting there, like texting my attorney that was next to me."

That's why Kim decided to pursue a law degree. She said: "I was to the point where I didn’t even know like all of the abbreviations in the White House, so they were like okay this person at the DOJ, and I was like 'What is the DOJ?' "And my attorney was like, come on, Department of Justice and she kept texting me all this stuff but I was never too embarrassed to ask. I think that sometimes like you go into something and you like I should know all this stuff.”
