Fearne Cotton shares refreshingly honest post about turning 39
In a sea of beautifully filtered, curated images, Fearne Cotton can always be relied on to bring a healthy dose of reality to her Instagram account, and her latest birthday post is no different.
Known for posting hilariously honest posts about the realities of being a mum-of-two small children (and step-parent to one teenager), having insomnia, living with anxiety and dealing depression in the past have grown her already impressive legion of loyal fans on the social media site to new heights.

As the author and podcast host turned 39 yesterday (3rd September), she took to Instagram to share yet another unfiltered photo of herself — having woken up early and in last night's makeup — along with a list of 'rules' she'll be now be living by (disclaimer: In true Fearne style, they're not the typical birthday goals you'd expect).
'This is 39. Last nights make up on. Hair breaking free. The only one up in the house,' she starts the post.

Admitting that at this stage, she probably won't change (and she doesn't need to), but will always try to expand and improve herself, before listing all the things she commits to continuing now that she's a year older.

Her refreshingly honest message obviously struck a chord with many currently grappling with the societal ideals and pressures put upon women as they age, with many of her famous friends rushing to comment on the Instagram post.
