Fearne Cotton embraces feel-good fashion trend
Podcast host Fearne Cotton has been embracing the dopamine dressing trend as of late, giving fans on Instagram a sneak peek inside her wardrobe.
The Happy Place founder turned to the feel-good fashion trend earlier this summer for a mood-booster on a rainy day in London, pulling out her brightest and boldest looks, full of colour and playful prints, as she tried on outfits for a festival.
From a green leopard print kaftan to metallic silver trousers and a striped sequin mini dress from fashion-favourite Olivia Rubin, Fearne gave us plenty of summer festival outfit inspiration in the Instagram Reel.
Now, the star has shared a second dose of dopamine dressing on her feed with a selection of the outfits she wore while recording her What Is, How To video series for her lifestyle brand Happy Place.
"Bringing some dopamine dressing to the next series of What Is, How To, our @happyplaceofficial YouTube series," Fearne wrote, alongside a carousel of photographs of her in her mood-boosting outfits.
Alongside the post, she noted: "P.S. spot the green dress again. Can't get enough of it. 💕" The dress in question is a green mesh midi with tulle detailing that Fearne picked up from a market. The star previously shared the story behind the statement piece on Instagram, revealing that although she loved the midi, it had taken her time to build up the courage to wear it.
Fearne explained: "I watched a video on @theebillyporter feed recently saying he didn't understand when people say 'I could never pull that off'. His response – just put it ON, that's how you pull it off.
"I got this dress for £40 in a market and had a great chat with the lovely lady who handmade it. I got it home and wondered if I could pull it off. It's a bit see-through, a bit unusual in shape, a bit too much if I want to hide away. I took Billy's advice and just put it on and felt amazing all evening.
"When we worry about what others might think or if we will stand out too much, we stop ourselves from experimenting. Have fun, wear the dress, put the hat on, go for it."
We couldn't agree more. And, that is the beauty of the dopamine dressing trend. It's all about encouraging us to get out of our fashion comfort zone and experiment with new colours and textures that we might not normally reach for. You never know, you could be one statement midi dress away from discovering your new favourite colour...
