Fat Feline Who Weighed Nearly Two Stone Sheds A Third Of Her Body Weight
An overweight rescue cat has been transformed after an incredible weightloss journey. Big Bertha arrived at RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre after being rescued by the animal welfare charity when she was found abandoned inside a sports bag by a member of the public. The two-year-old cat - who was fondly named by the team because of her giant size - weighed 11.500kg and was extremely matted. Bertha underwent a strict diet and exercise regime with weekly weigh-ins and regular vet checks to ensure her weight loss was carefully monitored. Now, she has lost almost a third of her weight, Foster carer Emma Cureton, who is currently looking after Bertha in her home, said: “She’s still got a little way to go but she’ll get there and will soon be ready to find a new home!”
