Party season dressing begins here, and who can resist the chance to add some sparkle? With twinkling sequins, pops of gold and ruffles aplenty, there’s a head-turning showstopper dress to suit every merry reveller.

Not the types to pass on an opportunity to get all dressed up, the Red fashion team share their key takeaways when it comes to mastering a signature party-wear style with a sneak peek of what they’ll be donning during this year’s festivities, from the big day to New Year's Eve...

The Tulle Maxi Dress

Sarah Tomczak, Red Editor in Chief, says: "I love the fairytale mood of this dress and how special I feel wearing it. It’s so flattering and has in built support so you don’t have to worry about what underwear to choose. To dress it down a little, I think a simple ponytail or messy bun looks gorgeous and fits with the ballerina cut. Very SJP!"

The Ruffled Midi Dress

Jodie Dunworth, Red Shopping Editor, says: "Inspired by a similar Schiaparelli two-piece teamed up with a black minimalist Brigitte Bardot inspired headband, I knew this modern Regency style was one to recreate. I love the drama of the oversized 'whipped cream' ruffle across the top of this & Other Stories dress, for a bit of theatre without the traditional feathers and sparkle, while the rest of it remains demure and structured at a great midi length. I’ll be keeping everything monochrome and finishing it with kitten heels, sheer black tights, and lots of gold jewellery for a contemporary twist."

The Sequin Mini Dress

Oonagh Brennan, Red Fashion Director, says: "I love the idea of mixing one statement piece with classic pieces to create a subtle party look that could work for any event. Sister Jane’s gold glitter ball dress brings the razzle dazzle but with a black tux jacket, sheer tights and platform heels the volume is turned down on shouty sequins to bring a low key luxury vibe. Wear it with an oversized cashmere cardigan and knee boots, layer a skinny roll neck underneath and a cargo utility jacket or go full out and wear it alone with a sleek ponytail and kitten heel mules"
