A SCOTTISH discount supermarket chain is celebrating its first sixth months in Northwich town centre.

Farmfoods began life north of the border as a single Aberdeen family butcher shop more than 60 years ago.

From modest beginnings, the thriving family business, which the owners take an active role in running, now has more than 300 stores all over the UK, employing more than 4,000 people.

While they specialise in frozen food, saying on their website it’s ‘the best solution for most family meals’, they also stock a full range of groceries and household items.

Northwich store manager, Ryan Ellis, said: “Since opening, we’ve had a fantastic response from customers in our new supermarket.

“We have a wonderful team who have really gelled to provide a great experience for our customers.

“Our whole business and culture is focused on bringing our customers the best value on their shopping.

“We’re able to offer our full range of branded and own-brand products, including frozen food, groceries, chilled foods, bread, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables along with a range of household items.

“For those who haven’t yet given us a try, pop down, take a look around, and I’m sure you’ll be impressed with what we have to offer.”

The Northwich store, located on the former Co-op site on Chester Way inner-ring road near Waitrose, employs 15 people, opens seven days a week, and has a large free customer car park.
