On last night's (September 8) episode of Married At First Sight UK, we saw the first dinner party of the season get underway. But, one couple were noticeably missing from the celebrations.

Despite hitting things off at their wedding and honeymoon, the show's first ever gay couple, Daniel McKee and Matt Jameson, didn't join their fellow contestants for the dinner party.

Naturally, the other couples started questioning where Daniel and Matt were. "I reckon they've gone, they have defo left," said Tayah Victoria, as Morag Crichton agreed saying, "They should have been here by now, I love Daniel so much."

But all was not as it seemed, as Morag later received a call from Daniel. While he didn't open up about why they weren't at the dinner party, he reassured her they were still together and would update the group on their absence when they next got together.

He said: "I'm not coming to the dinner party and neither is Matt. We will tell you when we next see you."

Fans quickly took to Twitter to discuss why the couple were missing from the episode and it didn't take long until they worked out why.

"Did Dan and Matt get COVID or something?" tweeted one MAFSUK viewer, as someone else wrote "Matt and Dan must have COVID."

A third fan said, "How much do you bet Daniel and Matt are stuck isolating cause of COVID?"

Given that the couple travelled abroad for their honeymoon in the middle of a pandemic, it would make sense that they'd have to isolate when they got home. Guess we'll have to tune in again tonight to find out.

MAFSUK continues at 9pm tonight on E4.
