While we're excited for series such as The Crown season five and Stranger Things 4 to hit our screens over the next year, there's a new biopic drama to get excited about.

Actor Rooney Mara is set to star as legendary actor, humanitarian and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn in a new Apple drama, written by Michael Mitnick, and directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Luca Guadagnino.

Mara, who's starred in acclaimed films such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Mary Magdalene, has been commended for both her acting abilities and captivating dress sense over the years, so we couldn't be more thrilled that she's set to step into the shoes of Breakfast at Tiffany's star.

Here's everything you need to know about the series:

What can we expect?

The new series depicts the life of Belgium-born Hepburn, recognised film and fashion mogul, who studied ballet and enjoyed early success in broadway productions such as Gigi, before venturing on to play lead roles in films including 1950s romantic comedies Roman Holiday, Sabrina and Funny Face.

Her desired style and unparalleled beauty (how can we not love her heralded beehive hairstyle?) was adored worldwide. She was also the inspiration behind Louis Vuitton's classic Speedy 25 handbag, so we anticipate fashion and old Hollywood glamour to feature heavily in the series.

Who stars in the series?

Mara is set to play Hepburn. The series marks her third producing credit. Prior to this, she was accredited for The End of Medicine and thriller film The Truth About Emmanuel.

Writer Mitnick's other work includes historical drama The Current War and sci-fi film The Giver.

Meanwhile, Guadagnino received an Oscar nomination in the 'Best Picture' category for directing the romance film Call Me by Your Name, which also won an Oscar for 'Best Adapted Screenplay' and saw Timothée Chalamet steal the show in his breakthrough role.

How many episodes are in the series?

The Hepburn drama is set to last for eight episodes.
