Princess Beatrice's wedding dress is borrowed from the Queen

From Cosmopolitan

  • Princess Beatrice's wedding dress is vintage Norman Hartnell, on loan from Queen Elizabeth II

  • Beatrice finished her bridal look with a tiara from the Queen

After announcing their secret wedding in Windsor on Friday, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's wedding pictures are finally here. And boy oh boy Beatrice's dress looks incredible.

Unlike other royal brides, Beatrice's gown brilliantly steps away from convention. Whereas other brides have traditionally had their wedding dresses custom made by high-end designers - Princess Eugenie's was by Peter Pilotto, Kate Middleton by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and Meghan Markle's was Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy - Bea opted for a vintage design on loan from the Queen. In fact, the Queen has even wore this exact dress - scroll down for pics. How about that for 'something old' and 'something borrowed'?

Originally designed by Norman Hartnell - the same designer who made the Queen and Princess Margaret's wedding dresses - royal dressmaker Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin made a few tweaks to the garment here and there to make it unique to Beatrice.

As for the details, the dress "is made from Peau De Soie taffeta in shades of ivory, trimmed with ivory Duchess satin, with organza sleeves," a statement from the palace explains. "It is encrusted with diamanté and has a geometric checkered bodice."

It's also absolutely beautiful, here are the pics:

Anyone else obsessed right now?

Of course, no royal bride is complete without her tiara. For the occasion, Beatrice wore Queen Mary's fringe tiara - the same style the Queen wore on her own wedding day back in 1947.

Here's a closer look:

I can't stop staring at this dress. I'm in love. The Queen looks pretty chuffed with it all too, which is cute. As promised, here's the Queen wearing the same dress back in 1962 for the premiere of Laurence of Arabia:
