If you've now finished watching the brilliantly terrifying The Haunting of Bly Manor, you're probably wondering if creator Mike Flanagan has a season three planned.
The latest season in the spooky anthology series has had viewers gripped, but not just because of its many jump out of your skin moments. Fans of the anthology series have been discussing the show on Twitter saying that as scary as it is, at its core The Haunting of Bly Manor is a love story.
But that brings us onto our next question: what will season 3 be about if it gets commissioned? Here's everything we know about a possible third season in The Haunting anthology series.
Will there be a The Haunting season 3?
Netflix hasn't yet commissioned a season 3, but the streaming giant always usually waits a few months before giving anything the green light. It took five months for Netflix to confirm The Haunting Of Bly Manor following The Haunting Of Hill House.
Actor Henry Thomas, who played Hugh Crain in Hill House and Henry Wingrave in Bly Manor, previously hinted there are more seasons to come. "The stories are boundless," he told Oprah magazine. "Though Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor are both horror genre, they deal with so much more than your average horror genre piece. We're dealing with big themes."
What will The Haunting season 3 be about?
The Haunting Of Hill House was inspired by Sarah Winchester's classic novel of the same name, while The Haunting Of Bly Manor took inspiration from Turn of the Screw, the 1898 horror novella by Henry James. As for a season three, it's hard to know, but Mike Flanagan's producing partner Trevor Macy previously opened up to Vanity Fair about how they treat the stories.
"The process is the same, in that it's a literary remix," he said. "You want to update the story, you want to find whatever fertile ground for elevating the character that you can in the source material, but we obviously took some liberties in updating it with a more modern setting."
When will The Haunting season 3 drop on Netflix?
The Haunting of Bly Manor came out exactly two years after the first series, The Haunting of Hill House, premiered on Netflix, which hopefully means we can expect a third season to drop in October 2022 if it gets the go ahead.
Who will star in The Haunting season 3?
Until it's confirmed, we won't know for sure but it's more than likely some of the previous cast members will be back as brand new characters. The Haunting of Hill House stars Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, Victoria Pedretti and Carla Gugino all returned for the second season.
