Dolly Alderton's hugely popular 2018 memoir, Everything I Know About Love, is being turned into a TV series, and it's safe to say we can't wait for the adaptation to drop. The cast of the upcoming BBC One show was announced last month, and it's expected to hit screens next year.
The seven-part drama will offer an unflinching account of surviving your 20s, inspired by the award-winning writer and journalist's wildly funny, and occasionally heart-breaking memoir of the same title.
'I am so excited that my TV show Everything I know About Love is being announced today. It is a semi-fictionalised adaptation of my memoir of the same name,' Alderton said in a statement earlier this year.
'It's a messy, boisterous, joyful romantic comedy about two female best friends from childhood and what happens when they move into their first London house share and move into their first phase of adulthood, And I cannot stress enough how thrilled I am that it's being made by Working Title and the BBC.'
At the centre of the love story are childhood best friends – Birdy, who will be played by The Morning Show's Bel Powley, and Maggie, who will be played by The Witcher's Emma Appleton.
Here's everything else we know about Dolly Alderton's Everything I know About Love TV series so far...
Everything I know About Love: The plot
The drama will be adapted for the screen by Dolly Alderton, based on her best-selling memoir of the same title. In her award-winning book, the journalist, podcaster and columnist shares self-deprecating, and occasionally heartbreaking musings on love, friendship, relationships, and growing up as millennial.
The central love story is between two childhood best friends Maggie and Birdy. Set in a 2012 London house-share with flashbacks to suburban adolescence in the early noughties, offering an unflinching deep dive into bad dates, heartaches and humiliations can platonic love survive romantic love as we grow up?
Everything I know About Love: The cast
The Morning Show's Bel Powley will star as Birdy, while The Witcher's Emma Appleton will play Maggie.
The cast also includes Alex Rider's Marli Siu playing Nell, Gangs of London's Jordan Peters playing Neil and making their on-screen TV debuts are Aliyah Odoffin playing Amara, Connor Finch playing Street, and Ryan Brown in his breakout role as Nathan.
Alderton said: 'I am beyond thrilled with every actor we have on board for Everything I Know About Love. Aisha Bywaters has helped us find our dream cast and we are so excited to see them inhabit the world of the show and bring its stories and relationships to life.'
China Moo-Young is directing, and Alderton is writing the screenplay as well as serving as executive producer.
