We like to think we know a fair bit about the royals, but a recent sighting along with a Twitter thread has highlighted a secret royal friendship between Prince William and another member of his family – and honestly, we can't believe we didn't spot this one sooner?!

It's well known that both Prince William and his brother Prince Harry are very close to their first cousins, Zara Tindall and her brother, Peter Phillips, Princess Anne's children... but it turns out, William is also very close to Zara's husband, rugby player Mike Tindall (with whom she shares three children: Mia, Lena and Lucas). Over the weekend, paparazzi photos were taken of Mike and Wills hanging out at the Houghton International Horse Trials in Norfolk, where Zara was competing and the two looked as though they were getting on like an absolute house on fire.

However, it seems this is nothing new! Tweeting about William and Mike's friendship, one big royal enthusiast said that the pair have long held a great friendship, "I absolutely love the relationship Prince William and Mike Tindall have 🥺 The Cambridges and Tindalls always have so much fun together ❤️," they tweeted, which saw over 1,000 likes.

In one snap shared on the thread, Prince William and Mike can be seen going in for a cheerful hug at the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo all the way back in 2017:

And in another, they're both taking a stroll whilst giving a piggyback to one another's children. How sweet is that?

It looks as though Zara and Kate both get along nicely too, with there being many photos of the couples hanging out as a quad, often with a mix of their various offspring or at a sporting event (such as this day out at Ascot in 2017):

Speaking to The Telegraph back in 2019, Mike commented on how his children and the Cambridge's children are of a relatively similar age, and how they all enjoy spending time together as a family. "Lena and obviously Louis are similar ages and Mia's sort of in between Charlotte and George, and then you've got Peter [Phillips'] children Savannah and Isla who are just a little bit older," he shared.

Mike also previously revealed that there's a royal WhatsApp group that they're all a part of too... Oh to be a fly on the wall of that chat!
