In his portrayal of Bridgerton's the Duke of Hastings, Regé-Jean Page established himself as a firm fan-favourite. Whether it was his chemistry with Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) or the simple act of him licking a spoon, he certainly made an impression. So much so, he's been nominated for the 2021 TIME100 Next list. Not only that, he also got a stunning shout out from Bridgerton exec producer Shonda Rhimes.

Shonda described Regé-Jean as "finer than fiction and better than any dream". We definitely agree with Shonda on this one.

The Time extract reads:

You might dream of him, the one we call the Duke of Hastings. But in reality, Regé-Jean Page is finer than fiction and better than any dream. He is that rare actor, one who brings an intensity, an intelligence and a precision to his work, providing endless depth to any scene.

Although he'd previously starred in Roots and For The People (not forgetting his Harry Potter cameo), Regé-Jean's breakout role surely came in the form of Simon Basset. In fact, his convincing chemistry with co-star Phoebe led many to believe they may have been dating IRL. Alas, while Regé-Jean was initially coy about this suggestion, Phoebe later squashed any rumours.

Now that a Bridgerton season 2 has been confirmed, we can't wait to see what's next for the Duke and Duchess of Hastings.
