You might have noticed a glaring absence from social media over the last few months, as Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood suddenly disappeared from Twitter, leaving fans wondering what was going on. Now, she has given fans an explanation behind her sudden departure from quit social media, saying it was "one of the best decisions she ever made."

In an interview with Variety the star explained that she didn't like the coverage her tweets would get in the news, and that she never actually intended to make headlines with them, so she quit Twitter several months ago and hasn't looked back since.

"And it would be, like, 'Evan Rachel Wood goes on a rant!' or 'Evan Rachel Wood attacks this person!'" she said, explaining that she didn't want to detract from her acting and film work so she deactivated her account several months ago and has since deleted the app altogether.

"Honestly, I think it’s one of the best decisions I ever made!" she continued. "Really."

She's by no means the first star to take a social media break in recent times. Earlier this year Jodie Comer told OK! that she was taking a break from Twitter and Instagram because she was seeking out negative comments about herself and her performances. Meanwhile, RuPaul caused a stir in July when he deleted all his social media posts.

At least we still get little snippets of Evan's world on her Instagram. Which is of course, effortlessly cool.
