Eva Longoria wore $40 dress to first Cannes Film Festival event

Eva Longoria stepped out in a $40 (£32) dress for her first-ever Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

While most celebrities step out in designer gowns and expensive diamond jewellery, the Desperate Housewives actress opted for a gold knit design when she made her debut at the film event held in Cannes, France back in 2005.

"I was like, I'll just wear this one, this knit gold, that feels right. Nobody would've known it was a $40 dress," she told People, recalling how she found the garment while shopping in Los Angeles.

Eva went on to remember how she was confused by questions from reporters wanting to know "who" she was wearing.

"I was like, 'What do you mean? It's mine,'" the star laughed. "Everybody just loved the dress, and I was like, it's just from (a store on) Melrose (Avenue)!"

Earlier this week, Eva made a splash at the 2022 edition of the festival when she opted for a sheer black ruffled dress from Alberta Ferretti.

She accessorised the look with Chopard jewellery and Aquazzura heels.
