It's been almost a decade since Desperate Housewives ended, but Eva Longoria has shown that her connection to her much-loved character Gabrielle Solis remains strong.

In a stunning bikini photo shared on Instagram, the actress, 45, paid tribute to her role in the hit series, which ran from 2004 to 2012.

Referencing the bright shade of her two-piece, she penned the tongue-in-cheek caption: "Even #20YearsLater, she still knew red was her color #DesperateHousewives".

Fans of the show will know that she was referring to a line of speech famously used to describe her character in the comedy-drama.

Her post about the iconic description went down well with social media users who left more than 342,000 'likes'.

Swimwear designer Melissa Odabash, who created her bikini, commented: "You are just perfection."

Beauty entrepreneur Huda Kattan wrote: "I can’t believe this is 20 years apart, how is it possible that you look even more beautiful now?"

Actresses Kerry Washington and Gabrielle Union also shared fire and heart emojis.
