Euphoria's Jacob Elordi might be best known for playing the deeply disturbing, tortured quarterback Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Jacobs in the hit HBO show, but now he’s set to put on his blue suede shoes to play Elvis Presley.
Based on Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir Elvis and Me, the film – which comes courtesy of writer-director Sofia Coppola – will explore the famous couple’s marriage. The memoir was published in 1985 and became a New York Times Bestseller.
Deadline reports that Mare of Easttown actor Cailee Spaeny is set to play the role of Priscilla, and that filming begins this autumn in Toronto, Canada.
On September 12, Elordi set tongues wagging with rumours of his upcoming role after sharing a black and white photo of Presley on Instagram, which he captioned: ‘E.’
Earlier this year, actor Austin Butler – who is currently dating Elordi’s ex, model Kaia Gerber - starred as Elvis Presley in director Baz Luhrmann’s critically-acclaimed and awards-tipped film, Elvis.
‘Harry is a really talented actor. I would work on something with him but the real issue with Harry is, he's Harry Styles. He's already an icon.
‘Harry and I came to a place, genuinely I mean, he was just desperate to put the suit on and explore. He's such a great spirit and I have nothing but great things to say about Harry Styles,’ the famous director noted.
‘The thing about Aust was that he will tell you himself, I didn't pick him, it's as if he was drawn – like the role drew him in because he was almost born to play it.’
