Escape to the Country’s Jules Hudson warns buyers 'there's a catch' with property
Escape to the Country’s Jules Hudson was quick to issue a warning about one property as the buyer admitted it was a ‘struggle'.
During Thursday’s episode of the BBC hit show, Jules was on hand to help a couple find their dream country home in Perth and Kinross for them and their two young sons, four-year-old Cooper and two-year-old Woody.
Six months ago Jess - originally from Bolton - and husband Graham, who grew up in Aberdeen, sold their home on the outskirts of the Cheshire town of Warrington and moved into a rental property in Pitlochry.
The duo has a budget of £350,000 for a detached property with a minimum of four bedrooms. It was important that the home had an office so they could run their outdoor furniture business and ideally, a quarter of an acre of land with mountain or forest views.

Speaking about why they wanted to relocate, Jess went on to say: “We want to have the best life ever for our children, for ourselves, our business and for our hobbies.”
Graham added: “We really want the opportunity just to be able to nip up and take yourself to the mountains in the winter. We want to be surrounded by nature so we can do some walking and bird-watching.”
Jules went all out and set up a number of homes to view, but it was the mystery house that he thought would catch the couple's eye.
The detached property located on the outskirts of Alyth was on the market for £250,000 and it offered two three-bed flats with a potential to make it into a family home. It also had a good size garden and rural views.
However, he was quick to point out that it required more work than they had planned to put in. He admitted: “There is a catch and the catch is this is a totally renovation project.”
He continued: “Whether Jess and Graham keep the two properties separate, one for them and one for mum, or merge them into one but they’d need to knock it about a bit to make it work for their growing family.
“It’s going to take a lot of imagination and some money. But here is another bit of good news, it’s also the cheapest property of the week.”
After working around the house, Jess wasn’t keen on the big project, as she said: “I feel like I’m struggling to see the finished result. There are just a lot of houses and it is a nice house to look at but it’s whether or not we can take on such a big project right now.”
In the end, the couple decided not to put an offer in for any of the properties.
