While the sun is briefly out, now is a good time to tell you about a new ice cream we think you are going to be very into. Or very much not into. Let’s find out which camp you’re in, shall we?

Ben & Jerry’s has launched a new ice cream, and we know all too well that everything those guys touch turns to delicious, creamy ice cream. But in this case, it might be a love it or hate it type situation.

Ben & Jerry’s Chip Happens ice cream is a blend of chocolate ice cream, fudge pieces and crisps. Yes… crisps. Or, ‘chips’ as they call them in the States, hence the name Chip Happens.

Made in partnership with Netflix cookery show Nailed It, where contestants try and fail to make impressive baked goods, Chip Happens is hitting UK supermarkets shelves later this month. The ice cream legends describe it as “an ice cream as perfectly imperfect as the culinary masterpieces of Nailed It!”

Now, we know it may sound weird to put crisps in ice cream, but just think how many amazing savoury and sweet combinations there are out there: salty and sweet popcorn, salted caramel, McDonald’s fries dipped in vanilla milkshake, and our personal favourite, these salty pretzel brownies.

Launching in Asda later this month, a tub of Chip Happens will set you back £4.50. But you better move fast, as this is a limited-edition flavour, so it won’t be around forever.

After that, you’ll be forced to make your own crisp ice cream combinations. Pickled onion Monster Munch crumbled into a tub of raspberry ripple? Or maybe a Nice ‘N’ Spicy Nik Nak crammed into a rum and raisin cone like a flake?

Yeah, I think we’ll leave it to the professionals…
