Erin Napier shares sweet anniversary surprise from husband Ben: 'I cried for how thankful I am that God gave us each other'

Erin Napier is celebrating the love she shares with her husband Ben on their 13th wedding anniversary.

The Home Town star took to Instagram on Nov. 24 to gush over the surprise that her husband Ben set up for her, revealing that he had taken them back to their first apartment together, where they set up their first Christmas tree, as well as started their renovation business. Though the duo had kept the loft for years as Erin's studio, now the two are officially saying goodbye to the apartment, as a new occupant is moving in — and Ben wanted to make the moment special.

“For our 13th wedding anniversary he brought me home to the old apartment one last time,” Erin captioned a video of Ben's surprise. “We had our favorite Chinese carryout from our newlywed years atop the ginkgo leaves from the tree next to our loft. The same tree’s leaves showered us as we ran to the car after our reception. We drank our favorite soda in the glasses we bought on our honeymoon at Fishs Eddy. He made a playlist of songs from our beginning, from our wedding reception, to now. Our box of wedding mementos and my shoes were there. I cried for how thankful I am that God gave us each other. Tonight Ben told me, ‘He knew you needed someone who understood your tender heart.’ Yes. To be completely understood (for better or for worse) and found valuable anyway: that’s love.”

Followers in the comments section adored the sweet moment, with one writing, “I’m in love with everything about this. The two of you, your sweet sweet story and love for one another, and your subtle reminders that the simple things are the GRAND things. Y’all make my heart warm.”

Another added, “I'm crying. You two are so intuned, it is beautiful to see and to read about. I live vicariously watching you two and your lovely little ones, move through life. Always loving.”

Erin also honored her anniversary on social media by sharing photos from her wedding, captioning the photos, “13 years ago we became family then went to NYC for Thanksgiving. Every year on our anniversary week, I’m so very thankful for you and the life we’ve made together. Thank you for loving me, @scotsman.co.”

Erin has made her love of her husband well known in recent weeks. She gushed over her HGTV partner in the caption of a photo of him and their daughter Helen, writing, “Tonight he told her ‘A man’s job is to keep girls safe, to cherish and protect them.’ Dangit if we didn’t hit the jackpot in this house.”
