Once in a blue moon, we stumble across a lipstick so perfect, it looks beautiful across literally every skin tone and lights up the faces of anyone who slicks it on. This GHI-approved, stunning matte crimson by Lancôme springs to mind.

But skin tones are nuanced. Light, medium and deep complexions have varying undertones and don't simply fit in neat little boxes. Plus, our colouring can also change with the seasons. Finding the suit-all red is difficult, but a suit-all nude? Almost impossible.

In comes new British brand Emolyne, found by Ugandan-born, London-based entrepreneur Emolyne Ramlov. With 30 shades of reds and nudes in various undertones, you're bound to find a new go-to lippy.

Emolyne is also bringing back the lost art of matching your nails to your lips by ensuring every lipstick has a coordinating nail polish and lip liner. Emolyne shares with GH that having the perfect nail polish has always been equally important to her as finding the perfect lip.

"When I first had the idea of starting the brand, there was no doubt in my mind that we had to launch with these two categories," she said.

To find your ideal shade, simply click on the 'Find Your Shade' button on the brand's website and select the model whose complexion shade is closest to yours. It will then show how every colour in the lineup works with that skin tone.

"Our shade range has been carefully designed to cater for every skin tone, gender and race, no matter what the season. It was important to make shade matching and selection an easy and convenient process," explained Emolyne.

But what about the products themselves? Well, they certainly do impress! I tried the Metamorphosis Velvet Semi-Matte Lipstick which is highly pigmented and dries down to a comfortable, long-wearing finish. As for the Metamorphosis Velvet Long-Wear Lip Definers, they glide on smoothly to shape and define lips without any tugging.

There's a lot to love about the nail polishes too. The creamy formula lasts well and the slightly wide brush design makes application a breeze. Shades Lira and Luxor are especially gorgeous on olive undertones.

We can't wait to see what else the brand has in store for the future!
