Emmerdale's Mandy and Paddy give in to temptation

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Mandy and Paddy Dingle have given in to temptation in Emmerdale.

Soap bosses previously confirmed that the former couple would have a night of passion as Paddy continues to struggle with the end of his marriage to Chas.

Viewers have seen Paddy having difficulties at work and having mood swings at home as he tries to move beyond estranged wife Chas Dingle's affair with the late Al Chapman.

These scenes played out in Wednesday's (February 8) episode, where Paddy was dejected to see Eve wanted to go on Chas's overnight trip instead of staying with him.

Paddy decided to get stuck into paperwork at the surgery, even after Rhona encouraged him to take the rest of the day off since she was doing the same.

He decided to take her up on leaving early, though he ducked out of joining Rhona and Marlon for lunch because he claimed he'd had a long walk planned. In reality, he hid in the alley to avoid being seen.

When Mandy stumbled on Paddy hiding out, he admitted to her that he was feeling "really lost". He asked why he was feeling so lonely if he was spending most of his time with Eve and his dad.

"You still love [Chas] and you know how I know? It was the same for me with Vinny's dad. In spite of everything, I couldn't stop loving him," she explained.

The pair shared a bottle of wine and got increasingly more intoxicated as they reminiscent about the highs and lows of their relationship.

Mandy admitted she still "fancied the pants" off Paddy, leading to the former couple falling into each other's arms. Unfortunately, producers have confirmed that this fling won't be a positive turning point for Paddy.

"It's not all going to be love and laughter there with those people. What we'll see is actually, underneath it all, as much as Paddy is putting on that big smile and that he is trying to act like everything is okay, actually underneath it all, it's not. We'll see a lot more of that in 2023," producer Laura Shaw confirmed recently in a YouTube Q&A.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
