Emmerdale's Charity Dingle discovers Vanessa Woodfield has cancer
Emmerdale airs emotional scenes tonight (February 27) as Vanessa Woodfield confides in her fiancée Charity Dingle about her illness.
Viewers know that Vanessa has been diagnosed with bowel cancer, but hasn't found the right time to tell Charity (Emma Atkins) after being rescued from her kidnap ordeal with Pierce Harris.
In Thursday's double bill, Vanessa prepares to tell Charity everything, but it's not an easy task.
Understandably, an oblivious Charity is still fixated on Vanessa's kidnap, fretting over how close she came to losing her.

More than ever, Charity now sees how she wouldn't be able to cope without Vanessa and declares the depth of her feelings.
This leaves a struggling Vanessa unable to tell the truth, fearing how Charity might react.
It's only later when Vanessa bumps into her GP Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and receives some advice that she realises she needs to bite the bullet and tell Charity everything.

Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa, has already revealed that her character's diagnosis will test her relationship with Charity.
"Charity's reaction is everything that Vanessa fears – she just panics," Michelle told Inside Soap.
"Charity keeps her distance from Vanessa, which only makes her feel more alone than ever. She just wants Charity to tell her that they can get through this together."
Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
