Emmerdale's Arthur gets upsetting rejection from Marshall

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Arthur has been rejected by Marshall in upsetting Emmerdale scenes.

Earlier this week, Laurel clashed with a homophobic councillor who revealed his objections to Arthur hosting a school presentation on LGBTQ+ history for the students. Laurel raged against this bias in the school.

While it looked like Marshall was ready to share a kiss with Arthur, everything went up in smoke when Laurel found out his father is the same councillor she'd argued with.

In Friday's (February 3) episode, Arthur confided in Laurel about what had been going on and that he wanted to support Marshall through his own period of discovery.

"Tread carefully," Laurel urged her son. "The last thing I want is you getting hurt."

Arthur was alarmed when Marshall didn't show up for school, so caught up with him later to see what was wrong. Marshall explained he'd spent the day with his dad and then shared some upsetting news.

"We can't be friends," Marshall told him.

Marshall then said some vile and hurtful things to Arthur about being gay, before demanding: "Do us all a favour and leave me alone!"
