Emmerdale star confirms he’s quit the soap after 3yrs as he's written out in dramatic twist

Emmerdale star Emile John has confirmed he has left the ITV soap after three years. The actor portrayed Ethan Anderson in the hit soap, but his character's dramatic final scenes saw him killed off.

In the Tuesday 28 May episode, lawyer Ethan collapsed and died. The character was preparing to go to court over dangerous driving charges that left his friend gravely injured, but he suddenly collapsed on the floor before he could make it out of his house.

His father Charles (Kevin Mathurin) discovered him on the floor, and resident doctor Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) then rushed over to the house and started CPR before Ethan was taken to hospital. It was later confirmed he'd died when Charles and Manpreet returned to the village without him.

Taking to Instagram after the episode aired, Emile said: “After three years, Ethan’s journey on Emmerdale has come to an end. I feel extremely privileged to have entered this industry working on such an Iconic show.

"I honestly had the time of my life! Sharing the space with such talented folk on and off screen for the last few years has been a huge honour and an experience that’ll stay with me always."
