Emma Roberts has confirmed she's expecting her first child with Garrett Hedlund - while also revealing the baby's gender in a sweet post on Instagram.

The American Horror Story star also posted two image of herself laughing and hugging Triple Frontier actor Hedlund.

Her aunt Julia Roberts commented on the post, writing: "Love you."

And the star's former Scream Queen cast member Lea Michele, who recently welcomed her first child, added: "You will be the greatest mama. I love you Em! Boy moms together."

Roberts and Hedlund were first pictured together holding hands in New York in 2019, following reports that had been seen kissing on a date in Los Angeles.

Prior to that, Roberts was engaged to her AHS co-star Evan Peters, who is currently in a relationship with singer Halsey.

Roberts previously spoke to Cosmopolitan for its May 2019 cover story about choosing to keep her love life and breakups private, which isn't always easy to do when you're in the spotlight.

"I never want to talk about relationships I’m in or that are ending or have ended," she explained. "It's hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience. Growing up is hard.

"Sometimes it makes me sad that I can't have a private moment. Because of Twitter and Instagram, there’s a whole other element where everybody can comment on what you’re doing and no one knows the real story. That's hard."
