Emma Bridgewater releases new mug to celebrate 75 years of the NHS
British pottery brand Emma Bridgewater has released a new half-pint mug to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the National Health Service (NHS) on July 5th 2023. A £5 donation from each sale will be made to NHS Charities Together, which was set up in 2000 to provide funding for hospitals, staff and ambulance trusts.
Ellie Orton OBE, chief executive of NHS Charities Together, said the federation was “thrilled” by the launch. “This beautiful design will allow people to raise a cuppa to the NHS every day, while providing vital donations to help the NHS go further for us all,” she said.
Making another lovely opportunity to add to your half-pint mug collection, this limited edition offering has a charming hand-painted flower and heart design in blue and white, in reference to the famous NHS logo. It’s priced at £24, but can also be personalised with a message for a loved one for an additional £1 per letter.
Introduced in 1948, the NHS was the first global health system to offer free healthcare to anyone who needed it. Today, it treats around 1.3 million people every day and employs approximately 1.2 million staff.
NHS Charities Together, which counts the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as patrons, is a federation of over 230 charities, generating more than £1 million a day for the NHS through national fundraising campaigns. In 2020, the organisation raised more than £150 million for NHS staff throughout the Covid crisis by launching its first ever national appeal.
This pretty new mug is on brand for Emma Bridgewater, which often releases limited edition ranges to commemorate special pieces of British history. A collection celebrating King Charles’ upcoming Coronation is out now, and there are still some Platinum Jubilee pieces left to buy as well.
We think this latest memento is a lovely way to pay tribute and show support for our wonderful health service, which really needs our support right now. You can shop the NHS 75 Years half-pint mug on the Emma Bridgewater website here.
