Emily DiDonato Shares Her No. 1 Mood Booster for Overall Wellness

When it comes to self-care, many of us have our go-to favorite ways to prioritize our emotional well-beings. Perhaps you enjoy lighting a candle and cracking open a book, or maybe you prefer to hit the gym for a solo sweat sesh.

Every so often, it’s fun to learn about other people’s self-care routines to find new things to incorporate into our own. Model and mom of two Emily DiDonato provided some great inspo in that department during an Instagram story Q&A session earlier this week.

When one of the SI Swimsuit model’s 2.9 million followers inquired what DiDonato’s favorite “mood lifter” is, the 32-year-old had her answer at the ready: cold plunges.

“Cold plunge / cold shower is THE BEST mood booster to me,” the Covey cofounder wrote. “I tend to do more cold showers because it is easier. I never shared this bc I feel like people would judge me lol but I did the cold plunge a lot while pregnant and it helped [my] mood immensely. Obvi talk to your doctor if you are considering it lol.”

Along with her response, DiDonato shared a photo of her husband, Kyle Peterson, in their cold plunge tub. The two have been married since 2018 and share two children: daughter Teddy, whom they welcomed in 2021, and son Oliver, who was born in late April.

DiDonato isn’t the only model to swear by a cold plunge (or shower) for mental health benefits. Melissa Wood-Tepperberg and Hailey Bieber are both big fans of the icy trend. Consider it added to our list!
