The annual CFDA Awards is one of the most notable nights in fashion. Industry insiders from across all sectors come together to honor the top design talent of the season, while also highlighting the culturally relevant. Making its official in-person return since the start of the pandemic, the CFDA has enlisted the always fashion-forward Emily Blunt to host this year’s event, and according to iconic designer and long-standing chairman of the organization, Tom Ford, it was a perfect fit.

“Emily is one of the most talented actresses in the world. Her timeless style and elegance light up any room,” Ford explained about asking the Quiet Place star to lend her talents to the evening. “The wonderful thing about Emily is that she is both kind and intelligent. I have great admiration for her, and I am so happy to have her as the host of this year’s CFDA awards.”

The guest list includes nominees Christopher John Rogers, Telfar Clemens of Telfar, and Peter Do. Other fan-favorites include Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta, Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada for Prada, and Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga. CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said that he is especially excited about the all the new talent coming from the United States. “We’re incredibly pleased to see several talented names among the nominees for the first time,” he said. “American fashion is experiencing a renewed energy, and these designers play a significant role in the future trajectory of our industry.”

In addition to honoring fashion’s top talent, it was announced that red-carpet mavens Anya Taylor-Joy and Zendaya will receive the inaugural Face of the Year and 2021 CFDA Fashion Icon honors, respectively. It comes as no surprise, considering both have produced look after look, with the help of image architect Law Roach. The third new category for 2021 is the Positive Social Influence Award, which will be presented to the Model Alliance. The nonprofit organization was founded by Sara Ziff in 2012 to protect models’ rights and help create safer workplaces—far pre-dating the #MeToo movement.

The event is set for November 10 at the iconic Park Avenue venue in New York City, The Pool + The Grill.
