It's no secret that with 10+ years of history and a continued rise in popularity, Love Island has dramatically changed the TV dating and beauty scene. And with such a large viewership, there come opinions – and a lot of them at that. From representations of race to criticism of body types, social media users have had a lot to say about the conventional beauty standards portrayed. This year, however, one contestant isn't conforming and we (as well as many people on X) love to see it!

Elma Pazar, the 31-year-old lash technician from Essex, entered the second season of All Stars as an OG earlier this week. And while we're only a couple of episodes in, a number of fans have noticed that she wears a fixed 'train track' brace.

Commonly, braces are fitted on teens; this is due to the maturity and density of bone tissue being easier to manipulate at a younger age, so, it's not often that we see adults wearing them. Not only that but with 'quick fix' aesthetic treatments – and more specifically, cosmetic dentistry – more accessible than ever, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone, especially in the TV/influencer industry, who hasn't opted for under-the-radar* dental work over braces in the quest for 'better' teeth.

*From metal crowns to composite bonding and of course, pricey porcelain veneers (yes, I am referring to Turkey teeth).

As one X user (formerly known as Twitter) says, it's "refreshing" to see. Another wrote: "As someone with adult braces (and not that confident with them), I love that Elma is in there rocking the brace look!"

Say it with me now: although less common nowadays, adult braces are completely normal and we can thank Elma for the subtle reminder.

Elma has been transparent about her orthodontic journey on social media, having previously documented the process in a number of TikTok videos.

"It’s nice to see you keeping your natural teeth, as so many people don’t nowadays! I think natural teeth look so much better 🫶🏻xxx," one comment under the above post reads, while someone else wrote: "I’m 52 & Iv just had mine. I can’t wait to have straight teeth 🥰."

Of course, when it comes to perceptions of beauty, each to their own – if you want veneers, you go for it, bb! But with such a shift towards the quickest way to achieving the whitest, straightest smile causing increased pressures and impacting perceptions of our social status, we have to applaud and show our appreciation for Elma. She's going against the grain and challenging the status quo when it comes to the 'perfect' 2025 smile. Oh, and she's doing it on national TV, no less.
