His first shirtless picture after top surgery has racked up 3million Instagram likes since May but Elliot Page smashed almost 2million in just 24 hours this weekend when he posted a new picture of his six-pack. The trans actor joked that his "new phone works" as he captured a confident mirror selfie. All the flame emojis.
Elliot’s Instagram fans went wild for the ‘thirst trap’, calling him a “King” and a “Hottie” but mainly pointing out how comfortable and happy the 34-year-old looked. He simply captioned it: “Oh good my new phone works.”
Among his famous followers, Willow Smith hopped on the comments writing: “hunk.com” and posting a love heart with a smiley and a flame. There was also praise from an icon, actress Julianne Moore, who wrote: “Omg” with another flame.
Julianne and Elliot worked on the 2015 film, Freeheld, together and they’ve clearly stayed close because like his other 1.7million (and counting) picture fans she’s overjoyed to see him “fully become who [he is]” – like he recently said he's always wanted.
In March, the actor admitted there was a long period where he couldn’t look at photos of himself, especially when he played feminine roles in movies, like Juno – his Oscar-nominated breakout film role. Having top surgery – something not all transgender people want or choose to do – has been life-changing, he told Time magazine in his first post-surgery interview.
"It has completely transformed my life...” he told the publication. “[It's] not only life-changing but lifesaving."
Since then, he’s been proud to share his physical transformation with the world. In May, six months after sharing that he was trans in a beautiful and powerful Instagram post, Elliot posted his first shirtless picture since the surgery in his first pair of swimming trunks. He tagged it with the words: “Trans joy” and “Trans is beautiful”.
Elliot said he felt “lucky” to have arrived at “this place” when he changed his name and announced his pronouns last December, declaring: "Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life." He’s happy and we love to see it.
