Actress Elle Fanning has reminded fans that there’s a darker side to the red carpet after revealing she fainted because her dress was ‘too tight’.

Last night, the 21-year-old collapsed at the Chopard Trophee dinner all thanks to her latest winning - albeit unpractical - ensemble.

For the starry evening on the famous Croisette, the ‘Teen Spirit’ star wore a cold-shoulder flower-emblazoned Prada gown - which boasted a strikingly small 50s-inspired corset.

“Oops, had a fainting spell tonight in my Fifties Prada prom dress but it’s all good,” she later wrote on Instagram. “Dress too tight. Time of the month.”

Within minutes, fans were quick to show support.

“Awww we’ve all been there! #timeofthemonth,” one follower commented [sic].

While another added, “Best dressed woman ever though!!!!!”

According to Variety, festival director, Thierry Fremaux, was busy introducing actor Francois Civil to the stage when the actress fainted. Thankfully, her sister Dakota Fanning was sitting nearby and quickly helped the star to her feet.

As the youngest member of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival jury, Fanning has certainly been busy this week with a series of outfit changes, photo calls and star-studded premieres on the agenda.

To kick-start the fashionable proceedings, the actress demonstrated her fashion know-how in a sweeping bespoke gown by Gucci.

In a bid to further cement her sartorial status, Fanning chose a glorious Valentino frock for the ‘Les Miserables’ screening. To finish the ethereal ensemble, she even wore delicate flowers in her hair.

Just like that, she’s already our go-to style muse of 2019.
