It's common knowledge that any Beauty Editor worth their salt uses a particular arsenal of products: a Dyson hairdryer (sadly, for your wallet, it is worth the investment), Bioderma Micellar Water, and at least one Glossier gem, to name a few.

And the secret to keeping their gnashers gleaming? More often than not, one snazzy electric toothbrush.

The brush in question, the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean, is as sleek and stylish as it is properly good at cleaning your teeth, and the list of mod-cons are endless: interchangeable heads depending on your needs (whitening, sensitive, etc), an app to optimise the way you clean, a chargeable portable case, and several brushing modes.

AND it comes in pink, if that's a priority (zero judgment if it is).

The best bit? You can currently get your hands on it for a whopping £200 less. Yup, we said £200.

For ELLE Beauty Editor, Jennifer George, the investment saved her gums:

'I used to use a manual toothbrush, which my dentist told me was causing my gums to recede. More and more tooth was being exposed, to the point of the root showing on some teeth. Not only was it unsightly, but it was making my teeth super sensitive. If eating ice cream becomes a struggle, I know I need to make a change.

This electric toothbrush in particular has a function to stop aggressive brushing: a light flashes if you put too much pressure on, so you're much gentler on my poor gums. 'They've stopped in their tracks, and aren't sore or as sensitive.' Plus, the app (which - don't ask us how - monitors exactly where the bristles are scrubbing in the mouth) meaning you're cleaning evenly around all my pearly whites.'

It might sound like a no brainer, especially if you take into account the awful environmental impact plastic toothbrushes make: in the US alone, an estimated 1 billion are thrown away each year. But the price, pushing £300, might be a bit of a turn off/an impossible investment.

However, currently - as part of a Black Friday offer - the whizzy whitening wonder is up to £200 off, sitting pretty at a third of the price.

That's nearly £300 worth of electric toothbrush for just £89.

It might not be as sexy a sale purchase as some new shoes or party dress, but you know what isn't sexy? Receding gums. Trust us on that.
