Elderly pedestrian hospitalised with serious injuries after crash with motorcycle

AN ELDERLY man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a motorcycle.

The male pedestrian, aged in his 70s, was rushed to hospital following a crash involving a Honda motorcycle in Wimborne Road, Bournemouth, close to the junction with Talbot Road, in Winton.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving a report at 8.45pm on Thursday, March 30.

A cordon and road closure were put in place on the section of road around the crash and remained in place late into the night.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, in particular the occupants of a multi-purpose vehicle that came to stop outside the Lloyds bank immediately after the crash.

Police Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit, said: “I am carrying out enquiries into this collision and would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I would urge motorists who were travelling in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage to please get in touch.

“Finally, I am particularly keen to speak to the driver and occupants of a multi-purpose vehicle that came to a stop outside Lloyds Bank immediately after the collision as you may have information to assist my investigation.”

A spokeswoman for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 20:40 to a road traffic collision in the Winton area.

"We sent a double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer, an air ambulance and a doctor to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land to Poole Hospital.”
