Update 10th October: Hours after teasing fans that Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran were coming together for a secret project, the pair have now revealed the aim of their latest collaboration is to raise awareness of World Mental Health Day.
In a video shared on the singer and royal's Instagram account, Sheeran can be seen having his beard trimmed and opening up about his admiration for working with the royal and coming together for an important cause.
During a visit at Prince Harry's 'home', the pair talk about an issue close to their hearts, however, the conversation takes a surprising turn when it turns out the duo are talking about different issues – the singer on the subject of being a red head and the 35-year-old on the importance of seeking help when you're struggling with mental health issues.
Sheeran told the Prince: 'I've actually been trying to write a song about this, to get it out to more people', prompting the royal to reply, 'Someone with your skillset to be able to write lyrics of a song, to raise awareness would be amazing'.
The 28-year-old added: 'That's exactly what I'm trying to do. People don't understand what it's like for people like us - the jokes and snide comments, I just feel like it's time we stood up and said we're not going to take this anymore. We are ginger and we're going to fight.'
The father-of-one replied: 'Oh ok - this might have been a miscommunication but this is about World Mental Health day.'
Sheeran wrote in the caption to the video: 'It’s World Mental Health Day! Myself and Prince Harry, want to ensure that not just today but every day, you look after yourself, your friends and those around you.
'There’s no need to suffer in silence - share how you’re feeling, ask how someone is doing and listen for the answer, be willing to ask for help when you need it, and know that we are all in this together.'
If you’ve ever wondered what the interiors of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Frogmore Cottage looks like (are there cream carpets, is there washing hung over doors and a fresh pot of tea bubbling on the Aga?), then you might be in luck tomorrow.
On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Instagram account, @sussexroyal, teased a video in which Ed Sheeran rings the doorbell of a house.
The bell chimes to the melody of ‘God Save The Queen’ before Prince Harry opens the door to greet the singer.
‘Hi mate,’ the 35-year-old welcomes Sheeran before the ‘Perfect’ singer asks, ‘mate, how are you doing?’
The royal proceeds to tell the singer that looking at him is ‘like looking in a mirror’ before inviting Sheeran and his camera crew into the home.
A message that reads ‘Tomorrow 10th October’ subsequently appears on screen, suggesting that Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran are collaborating on a project which is scheduled to be announced on Thursday.
It’s unknown whether the abode in question is that of Harry and Meghan. After all, would the royal couple really have the national anthem as their door bell? Are they likely to have chosen green-coloured wall paint and red cushions as their décor?
Besides, the couple recently launched a lawsuit against several newspaper publications for allegedly breaching their privacy so it’d be surprising to see them welcome the public and media into their home so willingly.
Additionally, several outlets report that the house is actually that of Prince Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, and is called Ivy Cottage.
However, that’s not to stop royal fans becoming increasingly excited to find out what surprise Harry, Meghan and Sheeran have in store.
The royal couple, who recently returned from their 10-day trip to south Africa, will attend the annual WellChild awards in London on 15th October to pay tribute to the bravery of seriously ill children as well as their parents and carers who support and look after them.
