EastEnders fans are nervously awaiting the latest instalment when Phil Mitchell’s fate is expected to be revealed.

The Walford favourite (played by Steve McFadden) is currently in jail and has made an enemy of Craig Erskine (Connor Mills), who has vowed to end him.

Fans of the BBC soap know that Phil is expecting a visit from Craig.

And with all the speculation about whether Phil is going to be killed off in the soap, viewers are worried that this is it.

A teaser shared on Twitter ahead of Thursday's episode - captioned “Phil’s fate has been decided” - shows officers running towards a cell.

An alarm can also be heard blaring.

Sharon, who is played by Letitia Dean, is seen back in Albert Square.

She looks anxious as she paces around clutching a phone to her ear.

“What do you mean you can’t tell me?” she asks whoever is at the other end.

“If there has been a fatality on the wing I need to know if it is him.”

As she starts to cry, the doofs sound.

Viewers said they were excited to see what happens to Phil.

“I can't wait,” one tweeted.

Another wondered: “If Phil’s cell is B14, then why did they run past the cell? They were fighting in Phil’s cell. Does this mean the fight moved away from the cell? I have so many questions!!”

Others suggested that Phil could pretend to die.

“Faking his death means he'll be protected once he chooses to inform,” suggested one person.

"Imagine what it’s like for Sharon not knowing whether Phil is alive or not," said another viewer, adding a broken heart emoji.
