EastEnders enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation that Mick Carter might be making a dramatic return to Albert Square after Danny Dyer was spotted in a cosy selfie with on-screen wife Kellie Bright. Danny, 46, famously exited the soap over the festive season in 2022 when his character Mick Carter tragically disappeared at sea. The incident occurred after a tense confrontation involving Janine Butcher (played by Charlie Brooks) and Linda Carter, leading Mick to heroically dive into the waves to save the two women.

However, he vanished beneath the surf and hasn't been seen since. With Mick being declared "presumed dead" by officials due to his body never being found, Linda has been left heartbroken. Yet fans were sent into a frenzy on Wednesday 22 May when Kellie uploaded an adorable selfie with Danny to her Instagram, fuelling rumours that the beloved Queen Vic landlord might be set for a sensational comeback.

In the heart warming photo, Kellie and Danny are seen snuggled up together, his arm draped around her as they both beam at the camera, clearly enjoying their catch-up, reports MyLondon.

Kellie, 47, sweetly captioned the post: "A little photo of me and @officialdannydyer for all the Mick and Linda fans out there", adding a love heart emoji for good measure. The upload immediately set tongues wagging about the possibility of Danny reprising his role as Mick, with one fan commenting: "Great pic of you two. Hope to see Mick back in the square soon. Your El needs you Mick." Another fan gushed: "The best duo. Mick and Linda forever", while someone else added: "MICK AND LINDA REUNION."

One particularly excited follower questioned: "Is 'my Mick' coming back! ? ! ? ! ? ", and another simply exclaimed: "Oh my lord".

Since leaving the soap, Danny has hosted the Netflix game show Cheat and presented the reality series Scared of the Dark. He also led the cast of the Australia-set thriller series Heat last year and made the documentary Danny Dyer: How To Be A Man for Channel 4.

He will next appear in the Disney+ series Rivals, based on the Jilly Cooper novel of the same name that is set in the fictional county of Rutshire. The drama also stars Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, David Tennant and Victoria Smurfit. Danny will play Freddie Jones, an honourable and likeable self-made electronics millionaire who finds himself, along with his social-climbing wife Valerie, an outsider to Rutshire's cliques.
