EastEnders star Kellie Shirley shares name of newborn baby son
EastEnders star Kellie Shirley has shared the sweet reason behind her baby son's name.
The actress, best known for playing the role of Carly Wicks on the BBC soap, gave birth to her third child with husband Phil Davies in early March. The couple also share twins Pearl and Louie, born in 2015.
In a recent interview, the soap star explained how she and her husband agreed on the same name for their baby boy.
"When we discussed names, we decided to go, 'One, two, three…' and say our favourite name out loud. We both said 'Ezra' at the same time and we couldn't believe it," Shirley told OK! Magazine.
"We hadn't spoken about the name before and were like, 'What are the chances?'," she continued.
Ezra's middle name is Cillian, a nod to Shirley's Irish family.
The King of Thieves star also opened up on the emotional moment in which she got to meet baby Ezra for the first time, admitting she was "a right mess".
"The moment he was born I burst into tears," she explained.
"I felt speechless, watching this little human being that I've been growing coming out of my body. It's this massive whoosh of love and hormones, and everything is so heightened and intense. It's amazing. I was a right mess!"
Shirley played the role of Carly on EastEnders between 2006 and 2008. The character had a dysfunctional relationship with her mother Shirley Carter, played by Linda Henry.
Carly left Walford in early 2008 to go travelling and briefly returned in 2012.
