Lacey Turner, the EastEnders starlet, has revealed that some of her on-screen brawls got so intense that she ended up losing a chunk of her hair.

The soap queen, who has been portraying Stacey Slater since her debut in Walford back in 2004, has participated in numerous on-screen altercations throughout her tenure on Albert Square. She's evolved into one of the programme's most memorable and fiery characters, and she's now sharing her experiences of clashing with her fellow actors.

Over the years, she's also been at the centre of several major plotlines, from her sizzling affair with Max Branning to the murder of Archie Mitchell. She played a pivotal role in the lead-up to last year's Christmas episode and became a member of The Six. Her portrayal of Stacey's struggle with bipolar disorder has earned Lacey a host of awards.

However, it's safe to say that Stacey is no stranger to an on-screen tussle. Whether it's fights in the square or scuffles in the Vic, Stacey isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, reports the Mirror.

According to Lacey, she often leaves these on-set battles with "hair missing" and "bruises on her body" because "it can get a bit wild." During her appearance on Isolation Interviews, Lacey was asked about what it's like to film these rather intense fights.

She responded: "It's strange because it's not in my nature to fight. I don't think I've ever had a fight, but obviously Stacey's had a hell of a lot. But some of the best fights she's had have been with Janine."

She elaborated: "Once you get into it, you get this fire in your belly and when they say cut, you're still shaking because didn't know you had it in you. But it's great, they're always very choreographed and then you sort of just go for it and sometimes it goes a bit wild! I've lost a few clumps of hair and had a few bruises over the years but they tend to be the best ones."

Lacey went onto reveal that she nearly appeared on the soap as a completely different character. She originally auditioned for the role of Demi Miller and made it to the final two before the part was snagged by Shana Swash, Joe Swash's sister, just months before Lacey's iconic debut on Albert Square.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
