I'm willing to bet you're still not over Normal People, because I'm certainly not. Well, the good news is that you don't have to be, because Paul Mescal has gifted us with a reading of a passage from the actual book. And it's basically ASMR.

Paul Mescal, who plays Connell in the BBC adaptation of the Sally Rooney novel, did the reading for Florence Welch's Instagram book club, Between Two Books, which has previously posted readings from the likes of Yrsa Daley-Ward, Ruby Tandoh and Emma Glass.

You'll be overjoyed to hear that the passage he reads is the one in which Connell first meets Marianne.

"'Alright,' says Connell, 'hi.' Instantly, unbelievably, Marianne’s face breaks into a gigantic smile, exposing her crooked front teeth," Mescal begins.

"She’s wearing lipstick. Everyone is watching her now. She has been speaking, but she stopped to stare at him. 'Jesus Christ,' she says, 'Connell Waldron, from beyond the grave.' He coughs, and in a panic to appear normal, says, 'When did you take up smoking?' To Gareth, to her friends, she adds, 'We went to school together'."

I guess Gabrielle was right; dreams can come true. Here's the full reading, below.

That's 3 minutes and 48 seconds of extremely well spent time.
