Eamonn Holmes is reportedly 'fuming' over his split with Ruth Langsford, with reports that he is blaming the end to their 14-year marriage on the Loose Women star.

The couple's shocking separation was announced this weekend in a joint statement, which read: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing." It is now alleged that the pair actually split over a year ago, but Eamonn wanted to keep the news under wraps while they worked on their relationship.

The news broke on Saturday after mounting speculation from fans, who noticed they hadn't been seen together for months. Sources close to the couple claim that Eamonn has been 'struggling' behind the scenes and did not want to make the news public, reports the Mirror.

The joint statement is said to have been arranged by Ruth, 64, with Eamonn 'refusing' to get involved. "Ruth can do what she wants but keep me out of it," the presenter allegedly told his friends.

Eamonn is reportedly furious about the separation, having spent months trying to 'save' the marriage. He is said to believe the break up has 'very much been orchestrated by Ruth', who was 'determined' to walk away.

According to the Mail On Sunday, one source who knows the Irish star said that Eamonn would become 'very angry indeed' when probed on the truth of his marriage: "His language became really quite rude. He was struggling to accept it."

Another insider shared: "Eamonn's preferred way was not to tell anyone. Deep down he knew it couldn't carry on but he was kind of sticking his head in the sand. He is very upset indeed."

OK! has reached out to representatives of the couple for comment.

After the split was announced, it was also reported that the former couple had been living separate lives for two years. According to The Sun, the presenting duo’s relationship changed when they left This Morning in 2021. Ruth had been presenting the show since 1999 before Eamonn joined her in 2006 - and they worked together for 15 years.

“Eamonn and Ruth’s relationship changed when they left This Morning. They started moving in different directions in their careers and their priorities started to change. Eamonn was desperate to return to Belfast, which he thinks of as home, but Ruth would never move. It became a bone of contention," a source told the newspaper.
