Eamonn Holmes revealed that he has taken a huge step in his long road to recovery from his multiple surgeries although it has been a ‘hard’ struggle for him.

The GB News presenter has undergone several major surgeries with long recovery times. In 2016 he had to get a hip replacement, and in 2022 he went under the knife again for a spinal surgery which has left him suffering from chronic pain. Eamonn said previously that the surgery did not go as planned and it left him with two things in his back which he does not want.

Since that time, the former This Morning presenter relied on a walking frame to get around, however his fans were delighted when he posted a picture to his Instagram where he is standing without his frame.

He captioned the photo, in which he’s wearing a smart blue jumper, white trousers and blue shoes: “Hard to stand up but next my aim is to walk. Off to a birthday party today. What about you?”

His fans rallied behind his progress, with many commenting positive messages below the photo such as: “C’mon Eamonn. We’re all behind you, literally, pushing you on.” Another said: “Looking good Eamonn, keep smiling and surround yourself with positive people.” One more fan said: “one day at a time.”

Eamonn has not had an easy road to recovery, as he has battled both health and relationship woes. He recently split from ITV presenter Ruth Langsford who he was married to for 14 years and in a relationship with since 1997. The couple met after being introduced by mutual friends and sadly ended their relationship in 2023. They went from presenting This Morning together on Fridays to Eamonn leaving to host GB news, and Ruth staying on at ITV to hold on to her position at Loose Women.

Prior to their split, their last few years as a couple were mired with injury woes, as Eamonn not only had his hip and back injuries, but he also took a tumble in their home which led to him breaking his shoulder and getting yet another surgery to fix that.

Despite showing off his progress to his fans on Instagram, Eamonn has appeared to struggle with his health live on air as he had to leave his breakfast show early recently citing health concerns. GB News said he hoped to be back on the show soon, and fortunately for him and the programme he was back on air the next day.
