Dustin Diamond has sadly passed away at the age of 44. The actor, who famously played Screech in Saved By The Bell, lost his three-week battle with cancer, his representative told AP News.

According to the report, Diamond was diagnosed with a "brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago" which had sadly quickly spread. His representative told AP: “Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful”.

The sad news follows confirmation by his team earlier this year that the screen actor was suffering from cancer. At the time, his representatives asked for fans to send "positivity and prayers" on Facebook.

In full, the Facebook statement read: "Official Statement from Team Dustin: At this time we can confirm that Dustin does have cancer. Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made. If you would like to send a card or letter you can send it to Insurance King, C/O Dustin Diamond, 127 N. Alpine Rd Rockford, Il 61107.

"You can also send emails, if needed, to: PinkDaisyEntertainment@gmail.com as well and will print them off and send them to him. We ask at this time no autograph requests be sent to this address as that isn’t what it’s for. We ask everyone to respect Dustin’s privacy during this difficult time. All positivity and prayers are appreciated."

We're sending our best wishes to Dustin's loved ones during this difficult time.
