The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made their first joint public outing since lockdown began by paying a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in King's Lynn, Norfolk on Sunday, 5 July. The couple attended a tea party to celebrate the 72nd birthday of the NHS.

According to a statement shared by Kensington Palace, "The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has been caring for patients since 1980 and currently serves a population of around 331,000 people from across Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire." On 22 July, the hospital will celebrate its own 40th anniversary.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in the UK, it has treated approximately 450 covid-19 patients. The Cambridges showed their appreciation for the work of NHS staff on Twitter. "Whether you are existing staff, former staff members who came out of retirement, volunteers or key workers - we thank you for the resilience, perseverance and hope you’ve shown our nation," they wrote.

At the end of their visit, Kate and William were given three small knitted key rings made by hospital staff of doctors and nurses on face masks. "The children will love them," said the duke.

Kate wore a Beulah London dress, with a pointed white collar and floral print, which is sadly sold out. The chic tea dress was an ever-appropriate choice, perfect for an outdoor tea party.

The royal is a long-standing supporter of Beulah and has been wearing the label since 2011, most recently for a virtual meeting In May to support the Heads Together foundation. That style, a similar collared shirt dress but in red, is still available to buy via matchesfashion.com, priced at £385.
