The Duke of Cambridge revealed he has written the introduction to a new book, sharing the news across his official social media accounts.

In a clip shared to social media, Prince William sits down at a desk with a typewriter and types out the line “the sight that greets you on arrival.” We don’t see any more of the text until he signs it “Prince William” at the end.

The Duke revealed that this was part of the introduction he is writing to a book which will be out later this month, on 30 September.

He explained that the book will be called “Earthshot: How to Save our Planet," which will be based on his new environmental project, the Earthshot Prize.

In a caption alongside the post, Prince William said that he wanted “to share the early conversations in 2018 that led to the Prize’s creation and the simple equation that captures my theory behind Earthshot: Urgency + Optimism = Action.”

Yesterday, the Duke revealed that he would be revealing the finalists for the prize today (17 September) on the official Earthshot YouTube channel.

The Earthshot project was first introduced to the public with a mysterious Instagram post involving a drone flying across London, before the full details were finally revealed.

Since then, Generation Earthshot has been announced, which is an environmental education program for schools inviting, "students and teachers around the [world] to join in with the mission to help repair our planet,"
