The Duchess of Sussex today put her fashion knowledge to use as she helped choose clothes for women who are preparing for job interviews. The work was part of her engagement with charity Smart Works, which supports women who have faced long-term unemployment by giving them clothing and guiding them through interview preparation.

Meghan has been privately visiting the charity for some time, but this was her first public engagement for Smart Works, of which she is now royal patron.

"I'm so happy to be here," she told the group today. "You guys know I have been quietly coming by for close to a year. It's nice to be able to do it publicly and really talk about the work that you do."

During the engagement, Meghan was seen choosing clothes from the rails for a previous client of Smart Works, including a camel cape, a black shoulder bag and a printed dress.

For the occasion, she looked very workwear-appropriate herself in a chic fitted dress by maternity brand Hatch, with a classic beige Oscar de la Renta coat. She accessorised her look with striking cow-print Gianvito Rossi 'Plexi' pumps with a transparent PVC side, a ladylike box handbag and beige suede gloves.

Meghan's visit to Smart Works in North Kensington was her first official public appearance of 2019, which came on the same day that a number of her patronages were announced. These include; the National Theatre, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Meyhew Animal Welfare Forum and Smart Works. You can find out more information of the charitable causes here.
