The Duchess of Sussex is due to give birth to her first child any day now, but some royal fans are convinced that the newest royal baby may have already been welcomed into the world.

Unlike with the births of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children, we won't know when Meghan goes into labour. In a statement released last week, it was revealed that "their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."

But this statement, along with some apparent 'clues', have left many predicting that Meghan and Harry are already enjoying time with their little one.

It all started when the couple shared an Instagram post to thank fans for donations in lieu of gifts for their baby. “On behalf of The Duke and Duchess (and Baby Sussex), we thank you so much," they wrote in the caption. This immediately left followers questioning the choice of words.

Just one week ago, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked that you kindly consider supporting various organisations around the world in lieu of sending gifts for the upcoming arrival of their first born. Not only did many of you lend your support, you took action. Their Royal Highnesses wanted you to know the impact of your support – the direct effect your donation, energy, and action made! YOU chose to be part of the collective good, and you have made a real difference. Whether a $5 donation, £1000 contribution, offering to volunteer, or spreading the word – you’ve played your part. And on behalf of The Duke and Duchess (and Baby Sussex), we thank you so much. That, along with the fact that Meghan's make-up artist and close friend Daniel Martin is in London, plus Meghan's maternity leave beginning a month ago (Kate worked until a month before giving birth), has been enough to convince the public that we already have a new member of the royal family.

However, former royal aide Dickie Arbiter says he thinks the rumours are nonsense. "If you believe that, you'd believe anything," he told the hosts of Australian talk show Today Extra. "We'll know in due course when the baby is born. Harry and Meghan made it very clear the birth is going to be private.

"The birth will come as they said, in late-April, early May and we just need to hold our horses until then."

According to Shutterstock's royal photographer, Tim Rooke, it's unlikely we'll be aware of the royal baby's birth until after it's born.

"Now [the Duke and Duchess of Sussex] are at Windsor, it’s more private than Kensington Palace. If you wanted to, you could sit outside Kensington Palace and you could see them leaving. There’s only a certain number of entrances," explained Tim.

"But at Windsor, it’s in Windsor Park. It’s private, so I’m sure they could be taken to a hospital without anybody knowing, and the first you know is when they stick a picture on Instagram," he suggested.
