Duchess of Cambridge praised for swapping royal box for a 'normal seat' at Wimbledon

The Duchess of Cambridge made an appearance at Wimbledon today – and she even opted to sit in a so-called “normal” seat.

Royal fans have praised Kate Middleton, 37, for her seating choice.

It is much more usual for the royals to sit in the famous royal box, regarded as the best seats in Wimbledon.

What’s more, the match she attended – between British player Harriet Dart and American Christina McHale – took place outside of the Centre Court.

Some users on Twitter commented they had never never seen a royal attending non-Centre Court matches.

The Duchess was sat with British tennis player Katie Boulter and retired British tennis player Anne Keothavong – who is a former world number one.

The royal wore a previously unseen white shirt dress, which is by custom-made by Suzannah, a London-based brand previously worn by Pippa Middleton and Zara Tindall.

She paired it with with what is believed to be her Alexander McQueen black belt, and Gianvito Rossi black heels for the event.

She paired it with an Alexander McQueen Wicca bag which she carried in one hand, and a pair of £172 Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

She also wore the same Fern hoop earrings by jewellery designer Catherine Zoraida that she wore earlier this week.

On her finger she wore her citrine ring, which she is believed to have owned for over a decade. She wore the same ring at Wimbledon last year.

An additional accessory was her purple and green bow on her lapel, which is worn by all members of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The Duchess is a patron of the organisation.

The Duchess, a self-confessed fan of tennis, is a regular at Wimbledon.

The British sporting event is also a firm favourite among the royals, with everyone from the late Princess Margaret to the Duchess of Sussex attending over the years.
