Wearing appropriate work wear in this kind of heat is a difficult thing to do indeed. And finding an outfit that’s flattering too? Pretty impossible.

Or perhaps not, because as the rest of us melt in whatever clothes we’ve mustered together, the Duchess of Cambridge has managed to look both elegant and summery for her visit to Luton today.

In the Bedfordshire town for several official engagements with Prince William, Kate has re-worn a flattering white shift dress in a bright blue poppy print.

The dress is from the Duchess’ long-time favourite high street store L.K. Bennett, and cost £245 at the time.

Kate originally wore the dress at an Air Force base in Amberley on the royal tour of Australia in 2014. It was one of her most popular looks at the time, and we can see why - the angular cuts alongside the white and blue print really pop in the light.

The Duchess has smartened up the look on this occasion, having teamed the dress with a small box clutch and nude pumps, and has proven that there’s no need to stray away from bright florals when out on business.

And there’s plenty of it to be getting on with today, as the couple are unveiling a plaque at Keech Hospice, taking a look at work by charity Youthscape in Bute Mills, and visiting engineering company Howard Tyler.
