Following Prince William's 40th birthday yesterday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge returned to their royal duties today (22 June) to attend the unveiling of a monument dedicated to the Windrush generation.

The couple visited Waterloo station in London for the reveal of the monument that celebrates the dreams and courage of all of those from the Windrush generation. The monument shows a man, woman and child standing on top of suitcases, and was designed by Basil Watson.

For the occasion, Kate looked chic in a white two-piece Alexander McQueen suit which consisted of a tailored blazer and wide-leg trousers. The Duchess completed her look with matching white court heels and a white Mulberry handbag.

The Duke and Duchess were welcomed by Baroness Floella Benjamin and spotted meeting members of the public at the station.

William and Kate also visited Brixton House to meet with members of the association ELEVATE, which focuses on opening up the creative and cultural sector to young people in the local area.

Kate, who is a keen photographer in her spare time, was seen turning her hand to videography at Brixton House where she was photographed holding the camera and being directed by one of the members.

Windrush Day lands on 22 June ever year, and is a day dedicated to remembering those who came to the UK when HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in 1948.

Following the unveiling of the monument in Waterloo, the Queen released a statement via the Royal family's Instagram account.

She finished her statement with: "It is my hope that the memorial will serve to inspire present and future generations, and I send you my warmest good wishes on this historic occasion".
